james insisted
i know i haven't blogged in forever. i am in houston and refuse to spend any waking moment without my babies. they are in bed now. today we were at the mall and james found one of those portrait booths. ya know the ones that charge you five dollars for one picture?? he insisted that carli and i get in and make ugly faces. so here it is:
i think, wait, i know that i look freakin' hideous. and carli kind of reminds me of a dinosaur. awesome.

answering machine
Anyone who knows us well knows that James doesn't like to answer the phone when I call. Just kidding, I really don't know why he doesn't answer his phone...ever, but it bugs me so much. So last night I called him and I knew he was at home. When he didn't answer his cell phone or our house phone I left him this message. You will have to turn the volume up a lot on your computer.

Saturday Drive
James and I were driving around tonight and we started talking about the Killers new CD. He asked me if I had heard one of the songs and I said that I didn't know. The song was called "Joy Ride". So then we made a stop at HEB for some Mrs. Richardson's hot fudge. Delicious. When we got back in the car I asked him to play me the song. Here is the convo:
Mary: Hey play me that song.
James: What song?
Mary: Ya know, the song,.... a bug's life.
James: What?
Mary: Um, fire fly
James: What are you talking about?
Mary: June bug
James: I have no idea what you're saying
Anyway. We finally got it figured out and he played me the song. It was awesome.

Happy Thanksgiving!

pre-thanksgiving
I know it is in fact Thanksgiving, but we haven't eaten yet, so this can be a "pre-Thanksgiving" post. James and I woke up at 7:00 this morning to the smell of baking turkey. YUM! I let the turkey cook all night, and let me tell you, it is DE-lish. We then went for a run. I actually ran a whole mile-and-a-half. I haven't done that since, well, never. It was probably hilarious to drive past us because I was practically hyperventilating while James is almost walking next to me. That's right, me running is the equivalent of James walking leisurely. Next weekend I am running in the Jingle Bell Run 5K and I WILL be ready for it. OK that's all, I will post pictures of our feast later. Happy Thanksgiving!

"There is such thing as good grief, just ask Charlie Brown..."
That is what I have to say today: "Good grief!" I started my quest of making a Thanksgiving dinner with the purchase of all the necessary grocery items. I was surprised and overwhelmed at how incredibly packed the grocery store was. Ya know the way you feel when you have been stuck in traffic for over an hour? Well I personally start frantically laughing like, "Let's move it people". That is how I felt at the grocery store today. There was one woman in particular whose grocery shopping needs were much more important than everyone else's. She NEEDED to get to her groceries and she was going to cut you off and run you over to get to them. I felt like pulling her hair, but alas I refrained.
I finally got all my groceries and got the crap outta there. As I was driving home with the air conditioner blasting and my iPod on shuffle, Michael Buble comes on and starts singing, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...." I had to laugh.

my weekend
i had a really fun weekend. on saturday morning i got up bright and early to go support my buddies. they ran a 5K for Make a Wish. Cool. i was going to run with them, but ya know, the surgery, my kidneys, blah blah blah. and, they all ran it in less than 30 minutes. Seriously, that is less than a 10 minute mile. I could never... ever.... really.

ugh! (disappointing movie and a bad book)
yes people, i went and saw twilight yesterday. i was very disappointed. kristen stewart is a TERRIBLE actress. and all the background music made me want to gag. i've read the book and love it, but the movie was not great.
about the book (not twilight, a different one). i have one question for oprah winfrey: why oh why do you like to make people sad with your choice of books? i have been reading a book called the story of edgar sawtelle. if you are reading this book then stop reading this blog right now. SPOILER. the beginning and middle of this book were great. then at the very end everyone dies. if you know me then you know that i absolutely hate these kinds of stories. why can't books and movies all end pleasantly without a barn fire and an uncle killing his nephew because his nephew knows that his uncle also killed his father?? yeah, that's what i was reading last night. i wish james would've been awake when i finally went to bed. he could've cheered me up with one of his many dorky jokes or funny faces. oh well.
here's something that will cheer me up: my last clinical of the semester is tomorrow!! YEEHAW!

hallelujah!!
i finally got my stent out. yay! i was so nervous to get this thing out. but it didn't hurt at all. i could feel it all the way up by my kidney when they started to pull, weird. but no pain, and it's over! this is exactly what it looked like, except mine was more curly-Q. i am so glad to be done with this.
On our way home from the doctor's office we got a call saying i had some flowers waiting for me at our apartment. that just made my day.
And this next picture is meant to make everyone's day:

update
Before: I was super nervous. I couldn't even put lotion on my face after I got out of the shower. All you girls know how that feels. After: I feel like somebody beat the crap out of me, but just in my left kidney region.
Don't I look super cute in this picture? My face gives me away: I feel pretty crappy.
Lots of sleeping has taken place. Last night James and I hung out and watched Casino Royale to prepare for the new James Bond movie. We can't wait, we might even go see it today if I am feeling up to it.
Anyway, there ya go. I am doing fine and James is taking really good care of me (Dad). Love y'all.

extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy
that title is not a type-o. that is the procedure that i am having this friday. if you wanna be cool then you can just call it lithotripsy. last week i got a ct scan of my kidneys. as you all know, i have had a kidney stone before. the results show that i have not one, not two, but THREE kidney stones!! i have one honker that is partially blocking my ureter (the tube that takes the pee from your kidney to your bladder) on my left side, and two little guys in each kidney. i couldn't believe it when i saw it. so on friday i get to have this big sucker blasted into tiny pieces and a stint put in my ureter to party with me over the weekend. then next week i will get it taken out and hopefully all the pieces of this rock will come out with it. i am really nervous.

i am one lucky gal
has your stomach ever hurt so bad that you just get goosebumps all over your body? did you need to curl up in a ball on your bathroom floor? that is where i was last night at 1:30 am. okay i didn't lay on the actual floor, but i did lay on our bathroom rug. i have no idea what was wrong with me, but man was i a sicky. as i lay there on the floor waves of chills and goosebumps would run through my body about every 2 minutes. i was miserable. james finally came in the bathroom at about 2:00 am and asked what the crap was wrong with me. i told him i didn't know and finally crawled my way back to bed. as i lay there shivering james asked me if i needed anything. i said no, but he knew better than to believe me. he got up, got dressed, and went to the store to get me some medicine and a sprite. we're talking about james mcallister here, who, according to my grandpa, "goes to sleep with the chickens." jamesey loves his sleep. he obviously loves me more. thanks james for being so wonderful to me. i love the crap out of you.
