The Shack

I just finished reading The Shack and I am absolutely overwhelmed. It was the most beautiful book I have ever read. I recommend to anyone and everyone. It was absolutely beautiful.

i'm already swamped...

(yes those are all of my nursing school books! that doesn't include the large duffle bag of supplies that i have to bring to practice skills)

about 10 prerequisite courses and too much money spent on textbooks and tuition, here i am, an official nursing school student. today was my first day. it was very overwhelming but good. today we basically just went over the course calendar and syllabus. but after lunch is when it got fun. we learned how to give shots. we have this funny little thing that feels like a water baby that we practiced on. i'm nervous to do it on a real person. next month we will start our practicals at the hospital here in town. yeehaw!

Love Her!!

This is a video of my little Sophinator. This was about a year ago, but I just figured out how to transfer video from my camcorder to my computer... I know I'm pretty awesome. This video pulls on my heart strings. I love her so much! Enjoy.

i love the olympics!

I am probably like almost every other American in that I love watching Michael Phelps squash world records and Nastia Liukin win the gymnastics all-around gold medal. Watching the olympics has made me very grateful to live in the United States of America. This is the best country in the whole world without a doubt. I am so grateful for the men who fought for our freedom. OK that's all. I love America.

a few randoms

james and i were sitting on the couch and i made a face at him. he told me to "stay". he ran and got the camera and got this shot of me. i look like a chubby little kid.

then james made the same face and handed me the camera. we are so weird.

fulfilling a few requests

here's my quilt top. it's too big for me to stretch it out completely, so you can't see the whole thing. but you get the gist... and you love it. (yes i am standing behind it in the picture)

Some good Mary quotes

Last night watching the olympic games at The Rushton's house, we were watching M. Phelps break a bunch of world records and stuff. Also there was a short little section on Natalie Coughlin and how she lives her life. She talked about how much she loved to cook for all of her friends and family. It showed her in her kitchen cooking at which point My dear dear wife Mary Anne McAllister said, "I love swimming but I hate to be in the kitchen." This comment was met with silence, as none in the room could decipher. After it clicked in our heads what she had said and what was meant we definitely had a good laugh.

A couple nights prior to at about 11pm as we lay preparing to slumber, she broke out a three bagger. Three quotes literally one after the other. I can't really do it justice, so just imagine being seconds away from falling asleep and then startled by the person next to you saying, "(GASP) I need to send my mom's birthday card! Did you put the new insurance cards in your car? I'm almost 22...CRAZY!!!"

i'm gunna kill the guy who owns the van!!!!

oh. my. goodness. last night at about 10:30 we heard a car alarm start going off. james naturally just checked to see if it was one of ours and thankfully it wasn't. it was this stupid idiot van next to our car. the stupid idiot man who owns the stupid idiot van NEVER came out to turn off his alarm! that van kept honking its stupid horn ALL NIGHT LONG!!! it kept james and i up most of the night. at about 3 in the morning i was so ready to go to the store to get ear plugs. james was so ready to go knocking on everyone's doors till he found the stupid guy who owns the stupid van. as if that wasn't bad enough... i have 8 massive mosquito bites on my legs. and being awake most of the night i was very aware of them and how they itched so bad. ah! terrible night.

feeling feely

i have finally registered for my first semester of nursing classes! i am so excited to start. i really know that one of the reasons james and i were sent here was for me to have the opportunity to finish school. but for some reason i am feeling sad. i don't know why i feel this way because i really have so much in my life to be grateful for. it is probably just because i miss my family, especially little sophi and gabey. ugh, maybe i just need to get out of the house.

can i please live in stephenie meyer's fictional world for just one day??

i can't get enough. i know these books are a little juvenile, but once you start, you seriously can't stop. yes, i pre-ordered Breaking Dawn months ago, and yes, i am so excited to start reading it. i went today to the book store and was one of the few lucky ones to get a book. yeehaw! in preparation for the newest and last book in the Twilight series, i started reading all three previous books this last week. James must be so sick of my nose being stuck in a book all day! i'm really going to try hard with this one to take it just one chapter at a time. but alas, i know that that probably won't happen. i will be up mostly all night tonight reading after james falls asleep. (james just asked me what i was doing and i said, "blogging." he said, "about what?" i said, "the twilight series." he said, "lame.") sorry james. this is the last book in the series so in approximately 48 hours you won't have to share me with bella and edward anymore. ok gotta go start reading!

ps- this is james. my wife is officially 14 years old.
