i hate feeling sick.

It's The Final Countdown

(if you haven't seen the show, then you won't understand this pic, but if you have, then you should be laughing)
I am having some major deja vu about this post, but it's true.... once again, I am going to Utah!! I leave in one week and six days! YEAH! James's little bro is having his missionary farewell so we are going up for it. Of course I am going early to spend a week with my fam before the farewell. We are going to beautiful St. George. I don't know what it is about that city, but it is so fun and relaxing. So there ya go, I'm excited.

"When you give blood everybody wins!"

Ok I know it's Wordless Wednesday, but I just had to blog. Guess what I did?? I donated blood. Our stake had a blood drive and I like to donate whenever I can, so I went. When I walked in the church I saw one of the little girls in my ward. She was sitting in a chair, ghostly white, with icepacks all around her neck. It brought back memories of this one time when I was in the ER getting an IV and James passed out. Funny story: I had a kidney stone last October so I spent many days in the emergency room. I was getting an IV and James was sitting in the corner, not even looking. I looked over at James and he was completely white. He raised his hand in the air and said, "I'm going to pass out." And then sure enough, he did. Afterwards I sent him out to get some food. I'm scared for when we have kids.

Anyway- back to the blood donation. I was sitting there waiting to get started. The phlebotomist was having a hard time with the patient before me, and this made me nervous. I should be so used to this (being a phlebotomist and all), but I had to look away when she stuck me. Needless to say, I was fine and lived through it. I even got a free t-shirt, a Dr. Pepper, and some mini Nutter-Butter sandwich cookies. Yum. Here are some pics of my war wounds and the rewards that came from it:

new week, new shoes

I have the worst feet ever! By the end of a shift my feet are always KILLING me. I had to go get some new shoes so that I can actually work a full shift without having to limp out of the mall afterwards. Here they are:

They are like a dream to walk in. I absolutely love them.

"Where's my phone?"

So James just got home from work and he goes to lay down on the bed. I went and layed next to him and this was the conversation that followed:

James: Where's my phone?
Mary: You had it at work, is it in your pants?
James: No.
Mary: Is it in your car?
James: No.
Mary: Then you left it at work.
James: No it's charging on the counter.
Mary: Oh.
James: But I want it to be right here (he holds out his hand) so that I can call Mike.
(And then James proceeds to call Mike on his fake hand phone.)
James: Hey dude, what's up?
(5 second pause)
James: OK sounds good. Later.
That just made me laugh and it made me laugh harder to type it all on this screen. Funny.

Summer 'To Do' List

That's right, I got back from Utah a few weeks ago and was practically pulling my hair out everyday by the time James got home from work that I decided to make a to-do list.

  • get a job (DONE, I work at the Gap)
  • get as tan as Lydia (my sissy-in-law who is a lifeguard. I'm working hard at this one, but I don't know if it is going to happen for me!)
  • read a book a week (i've started a book but haven't finished it yet)
  • read the Book of Mormon (this one I really need to work on....)
  • find a new hobby (FOUND! i love organizing clothes at work, i'm a weirdo)
  • practive violin (i've done this 2x so far. but i did play in relief society last week for my friend christina's lesson)
  • update budget (i'm a slacker, all i know is i like to spend money on clothes and bath and body works everything)
  • cook a new meal 3x a week (if you know me, you know that this is probably the hardest one on the list)
  • update blog (YEAH i've done this)
  • work out 3x a week (take a wild guess!)

so there it is. i'm really enjoying summer now that i have things to do.

Happy Father's Day!

I have the best group of men in my life. I seriously have the best hubby ever. He is my best friend and I love to be with him. He can always make me laugh. I know that one day he will be a great dad. He is an all around great guy and I love him very much. in Houston preparing for his marathon!

I am very grateful for such a wonderful dad who loves and supports me through everything. He loves to pester me and knows exactly what to do and say to get my goat. I love him very much and am so grateful to have been blessed with such a loving man for my dad.

I am very grateful to my grandpa for always being there for my parents and us when we have needed it. He is such a hard worker and loves his grandkids more than anything.

Just Kidding

I went to my training meeting for Dillard's. There were lots of things that happened that made me realize it was not the job for me. First red flag: I would have to work every single day of the week. Just three hours every week day and then full eight hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday. Second: I wouldn't be able to wear any of the new shoes that I just bought. I would have to either wear dress pants with jackets, or dresses. Lame-o. (Random) Typing "jackets" made me think of this:

Anyway, Dillard's also wasn't willing to let me have Sunday's off so I called them the next day and told them that I wasn't going to take the job. Don't worry though, I am not a total slacker... I applied at Gap right after I got out of training at Dillard's and I got that job. I start Monday. I stinkin' love Gap clothes and I've worked there before. I love folding shirts on those little boards that they have. I know I'm weird. So that's the scoop as of right now.

summer hair

oh... my.... goodness. it is so stinkin' hot here in midland. if i am not in the pool or in the shower then i am HOT! today i went outside to go get some groceries and immediately turned around and came back in. i had to change into james's old basketball shorts (that are now mine :) ) and a t-shirt. i was still hot so i pulled my hair back and put in a headband. i didn't even attempt to put makeup on. i really think this is going to be my everyday summer attire and hair-do. not very cute, but it makes me a little less hot.

I'm Back

I got back to Midland yesterday afternoon. I left Utah a couple days early to be with my hubby. I was so excited to see James and just hang out with him. I had such a great time in Utah. Going back there makes me remember how much I miss living by mine and James's families. Yesterday when I got home I unpacked and then we went swimming. After swimming we went and got chinese food and came back to the apartment to watch The Fugitive. I totally pulled a James and fell asleep during the movie. Something about traveling makes me so exhausted! Anyway, we had a fun evening together and are just enjoying eachother's company.

Shoot 'em Up!

Last night my dad and I went shooting. It was the first time I had ever shot a gun in my life. I had so much fun. We had a contest of who shot better and obviously my dad won. He is really good and a great teacher. He would put the gun on the counter and say things like, "OK, I want you to pretend like you are in a life or death situation and pick up the gun and shoot two fast shots." So I did it and neither one of them made it on the target. Oh well. I had fun spending time with just the two of us.
