ay caramba!

I have been a crazy, frantic, stressed-out person this week. Finals are killin' me smalls! I have been informed that I say "holy crap" way too much. I have a comprehensive final on Monday for Med-Surg. I have to take my ATI (look it up, I don't have time for this) test in less than two weeks. I start an intense six-week course in mental health on May 11th. I become delirious after studying for more than two hours at a time. I am teaching in church on Sunday. I have been known to curse in espanol when I freak out. My grandma would be proud. My husband would not. Help.

Thursday mornings...

....consist of James and I dancing in our undies to MGMT. I should really put a video on here of James dancing. It tops all the other dancing videos.

I'm in charge of decorations tomorrow for Standard's Night at the church. I got very specific instructions on what decorations to get. For example: I was told to get black and white balloons. I said, "OK I will just get a dozen and we can have two balloon bouquets," to which I was answered, "No I like odd numbers, so do 5 and 5... 3 white and 2 black in one, and 3 black and 2 white in another." And I needed to get black, circular confetti. I searched the party store and even asked an employee to help me. All I found were black circles mixed with silver and red circles. I would've just left them as is, but with the specific-ness of the previous request, I decided to waste an hour of my time to separate the tiny pieces of black circle confetti from the rest of the pack. Oh yeah, and I bought two packs. Awesome.

Here are the girlies gettin' a suntan

Last stop of the day: Mo's. Delish clam chowder.

2009 Summer Blockbuster Preview

This is James and I will be posting a bit more often here on this site as opposed to my older 88 mph blog.

Last years blockbusters were a good crop and here's to hoping that this year does not disappoint either. There seems to be a number of action movies that are combating for the top spot. Last year seemed to be the year of the comedy while this year is a little thin in that category. This years top 5 Summer Blockbusters are:

1. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - June 26

Directed by Michael Bay or king of action movies. It was actually hard to pick a flat out winner this year, but there are going to be alot of great movies. There just wasn't one that was a stand out, so kind of by default this is the winner. Mainly because the last one was pretty good and had eye candy for both sexes in S. LeBouf and M. Fox. Also, this is going to be coming out the friday before the 4th of July, so that plays in its favor. Check out the trailer and if you didn't like the first movie than number two on this list can be your number one!

2. Angels & Demons - May 15

There are heaps of good movies coming out in May, but this is the one that I am most excited about. I remember watching the first one in Grand Forks and having to go to the older theatre in town because someone stole the projectors from the big theatre in protest of the film. I really enjoyed both of the books and although the movies are never as good, I did like the movie and the different ideas. Opie directs the follow up to DaVinci Code and Tom Hanks stars again and does a convincing job in whatever he chooses, so this should not disappoint.

3. Funny People - July 31

The next movie from Judd Apatow, but looks to have a little less gross out and a little more grown up. This stars Adam Sandler as a comic that finds out he has a terminal condition and his friends are there to help him through the ordeal. Doesn't sound particularly funny right? Just watch the trailer and see for yourself, there are definitely going to be some absolutely hilarious, laugh out loud parts.

4. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - June 12

One of my all time favorite movies is Man on Fire. So when I see a Scott/Free movie with Denzel Washington in it I am as gitty as a girl that attends school. The only problem is that this doesn't look like it is going to be that great. I really thought about putting this number one, but the trailer doesn't make it look as awesome as I want the movie to be. It almost seems like half the movie is just going to be them yelling at each other over the radios. Oh well, hopefully it is better than the trailer teases.

5. G. I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra - August 7

The first trailer I saw for this was when I was watching the Super Bowl over at the Rushton's house. They had already seen it and were so excited to show me on the DVR, needless to say I was just as excited. It looked like an awesome movie trailer and then at the end it simply put on the screen G I JOE! My jaw dropped and it was instantly the highlight of my night (until the game turned out to be good). We have to wait all summer to see it and I hope my anticipation does nothing but increase.

It should be an action packed summer and hopefully it will keep us on the edge of our collective seats. Of course, these are not the only movies that I will be attending over the course of the next few months. Here are a few honorable mentions that should be good as well.

May 22 - Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1663697689/
Liked the first one and the trailer made me laugh.

May 29 - UP
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi543228697/
Animated from Disney, so it has got to be good.

June 5 -Land of the Lost
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi4196401945/
Will Ferrell's summer movie, so there will be some comedy that will surely make it into my daily dialogue.

June 5 - Away We Go
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3933405977/
Jim from The Office and Maya from SNL in a serious coming of age comedy. Not to mention Alexi Murdoch music in the trailer. Nuff said.

July 1 - Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3380019993/
One of my favorite animated movies of all time comes out with a third installment.

September 4 - Extract
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi4097835801/
Speaks for itself, going to be funny.

Enjoy the summer everyone!!

so many pictures!

Seaside was amazing! We packed it full of Astoria sites (mine and Lydia's favorite), sea lion watching, beautiful scenery, and of course.. silliness on the beach. I'll start with the pictures from Astoria: yeah boi!
this is the view from the Goonies' house!
When we were up at the Goonies' house we actually heard these sea lions from all the way down at the dock. Of course we had to go look at them:

scruffy boy
Beautiful view:

James left this morning. He took my car to the airport and parked it at the tower so that when we get home we will have a car and won't need to get a ride. So I have been using his car today. I am totally spoiled with my car. His car is really dusty, but that is really James's fault, right? It is also a stickshift. I haven't driven a stickshift for months! I used to always drive this car, but then I got a new one and James got this one, so I am a little rusty with the clutch. I have stalled it twice today already. Here's how I feel about the dust:

And it doesn't have a plug for my iPod so I have to listen to old school CD's. (Like I said, I am spoiled.) But I just recently bought a new CD: Adele. Thanks to Christina and Mike's incredible taste in children I am now obsessed with this artist. James and I were over at their house a couple weeks ago and their girlies sang the entire "Chasing Pavements" track. It was really, really cute. I got a tiny teary-eyed. I love how Adele says "fings" instead of "things" just like my four-year-old niece. Here I am rocking out:
You know you all dance with closed fists in the car. That's right: I am driving a dusty stickshift car with my knee while dancing AND taking pictures. I will be a lot more responsible when I have children, promise.

Seaside.

James and I are going to Seaside, Oregon this week. His mom rented a condo on the beach and asked us to come. We are really excited. It's going to be freakin' cold and the ocean is never warm enough to swim in on the Oregon coast, but it's going to be fun. Suzanne (James's mom) asked us to come up with "Number 1's". These are like the number one things that we want to do while we are there.

My "Number 1":
Go to a tide pool.

Suzie-Q's "Number 1":
Go to a lighthouse. James and I decided that while we are in the lighthouse that we have to sing that song from Pete's Dragon. Ya know the one where they are white-washing the lighthouse. I know you know, don't pretend like you don't. "It's a razzle-dazzle day..."

Lydia's "Number 1":
To snuggle on her command.

Grandma Billie's "Number 1":
(Grandma Billie is Suzanne's mom)
To do water aerobics every morning.

James has 4 "Number 1's":
1. To have Grandma Billie be his water aerobics instructor.
2. Bumper cars.
3. Go to Astoria and take pictures on the same beach as the Goonies.
4. Go running on the promenade with Lydia and myself (yeah right).
